Job summary

The City of Indianapolis Marion County Assessor's Office is seeking a Residential Field Assessor to inspect, collect, record, and analyze data for Marion County properties. You will input accurate measurements into the property tax database to support the Assessment Division and other agencies.

The role requires knowledge of Indiana law and IAAO standards, independent judgment within supervision, valid driver’s license, and travel to field sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of prior work-related experience.
• DLGF Level II Assessor/Appraiser Certification or willing to earn within 12 months of hire.
• Strong project management, computer, math, geometry and communication skills.
• Knowledge of imaging systems and other software.
• Ability to assist customers professionally in person, by email, or by phone.
• Type, create and edit reports; communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess residential parcels according to Indiana law, DLGF rules, and IAAO standards.
• Perform quality control checks on work products for accuracy.
• Read and analyze site plans and construction blueprints.
• Coordinate with taxpayers to gain access to properties.
• Coordinate with GIS, permit and zoning departments and other agencies.
• Schedule and prioritize routing and workloads for parcels.
• Assist office visitors and callers and respond to inquiries.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
