Job summary

Allen County is seeking a Residential Property Appraisal Deputy – Fieldwork to support fair property assessments. This role blends outdoor inspections with office data entry, using tablets and GIS/CAMA software to measure and document homes and agricultural properties.

You will visit neighborhoods, record measurements, verify data, and discuss assessments with residents. Training toward Indiana Level II/III certifications is provided, with a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ year experience in customer service, sales, data entry, or similar.
• Willingness to pursue Indiana Level II Assessor-Appraiser certification within 6 months.
• Commitment to Level III within 18 months after Level II.
• Experience with measuring or evaluating property is a plus.
• Solid computer skills and familiarity with specialized software.

Responsibilities

• Visit residential and agricultural properties for inspections.
• Measure buildings and yard structures for accurate records.
• Compare on-site observations with system data and update records.
• Use CAMA and GIS tools to analyze property features.
• Explain assessments to homeowners and property owners.
