Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking an inspector to perform complex and routine construction inspections at project sites across multiple locations. The role requires knowledge of roadway, bridges, drainage, and other construction practices, with travel up to 40% of the time.

The position emphasizes reading and interpreting plans, contract provisions, and specifications, and maintaining thorough documentation of inspection results for project success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from State Highway Agency or national entity (ACI/NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to verify materials and processes meet plans and specifications.
• Use higher-grade equipment and perform complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document and communicate inspection results to the supervisor.
