Job summary

CDM Smith's CEI team is seeking a candidate to inspect and monitor construction activities at project sites. The inspector will perform complex inspections across roadway, bridges, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance & traffic with limited supervision. On-site work at multiple project locations, travel 20–40% is common.

Strong reading of plans, contract provisions, and specs is essential. Applicants should have a high school diploma, relevant certifications, a valid driver's license,

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction in which they will be working.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate conformity to plans and specs.
• Uses higher grade equipment and performs complex calculations for construction inspection.
• Works under supervision appropriate to experience.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
