Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Inspector to join our CEI team, performing complex and routine construction inspections at project sites across multiple locations. You will assess roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion and traffic elements, ensuring conformance to plans, specs, and contract provisions.

The role requires strong reading of plans, excellent English communication, and the ability to lead junior inspectors. Travel up to 40% and an on-site work environment are expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Performing both complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate material usage and conformance to plans and specs.
• Uses higher grade equipment and performs complex calculations for inspection.
• Work under supervised conditions depending on assignment.
• Reviewing drawings to prepare for construction inspection.
• Documenting and communicating inspection results to the supervisor.
