Job summary

HNM Systems is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to lead underground telecommunications construction projects across Ohio. This field-based role requires directing crews, enforcing safety, ensuring quality, and maintaining daily production across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate will read engineering plans, coordinate with stakeholders, and uphold project timelines while traveling between project locations. A strong safety mindset and proven leadership are essential.

Qualifications

Experience supervising underground telecommunications or utility construction crews.
Strong field leadership and crew management experience.
Experience directing field activities rather than solely performing inspections.
Ability to read and interpret construction prints, engineering plans, telecom maps, permits, and work orders.
Working knowledge of utility locating practices and state 811 requirements.
Understanding of excavation safety standards and underground construction methods.
Experience with underground conduit and fiber placement projects.
Experience tracking production and completing field reporting documentation.
Strong communication, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, production tracking tools, and mobile reporting platforms.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to work outdoors and travel between project locations.
Eligibility to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise field crews, operators, laborers, locators, and subcontractors on telecom construction.
Communicate daily work expectations, production goals, and jobsite priorities.
Conduct daily tailgate and safety meetings.
Provide leadership with professionalism, accountability and urgency.
Coach crews and address performance, safety and quality concerns in the field.
Identify training opportunities and mentor when needed.
Foster a collaborative team environment with clear communication and accountability.
Serve as liaison between field personnel and operations leadership.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, 811, and safety policies.
Verify utility locates and dig tickets before excavation.
Monitor PPE use and safety practices; address hazards promptly.
Document safety incidents and complete reports; stop-work if needed.
Maintain daily reports and project records with accuracy.
