Job summary

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking a commercially focused Field Applications Scientist to join our Technical Services team. This field-based role covers the Southern Plains territory with travel of roughly 50–70% to support customers and opportunities.

You will combine scientific credibility with business acumen to drive technology adoption, deliver technical guidance, and build strong customer relationships across Sales and internal teams.

Qualifications

• PhD in Life Sciences preferred; MS accepted with relevant experience.
• Experience supporting experimental design, sample prep, workflow optimization, data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales to support commercial opportunities and provide technical guidance.
• Deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including consultations, workflow discussions, training, and troubleshooting.
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships to ensure adoption of ONT technologies.
• Deliver presentations, workshops, and trainings to diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with Technical Services, Sales, Product Management, Marketing and other teams.
• Develop engagement plans for strategic accounts aligned to customer needs.
• Provide timely customer, market and competitive feedback to internal teams.
• Document customer interactions and support activities in CRM systems.
• Support colleagues and strategic initiatives beyond territory when required.
