Job summary

Flowserve seeks an Application Engineer to support design, manufacturing, installation and operation of our pumps and seals at customer sites in oil and chemical industries. The AE provides real-time technical support and recommends repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment, and works onsite at customer facilities and at our Kenai, Alaska repair center.

You will troubleshoot problems, prepare analysis reports, present clear explanations, and help implement standardized installation procedures

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree required.
• All levels of experience considered; in-plant operations experience highly desired.
• Knowledge of design, materials and operational requirements of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, esp. centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps.
• Must have strong customer focus and project a positive corporate image.
• Must be a team player and able to problem-solve with customers and co-workers.
• Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate and savvy.
• Some local travel using personal vehicle and some overnight travel required.
• May meet medical and physical requirements to perform duties on customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Communicate customer needs to Flowserve; primary source of information on design, installation, operation, and maintenance of pumps and seals.
• Act as liaison between customers and Flowserve teams (sales, reliability, service, manufacturing).
• Troubleshoot problems at customer sites and at the Quick Response Repair Center.
• Complete projects using hands-on and analytical approaches (e.g., failure analyses, performance reports).
• Evaluate reports to support recommendations for improvement, replacement, or repair of equipment.
• Present clear verbal and written explanations tailored to the audience.
• Implement and administer the mechanical seal standardization and customer specification process.
• Help organize monthly “Bad Actor” meetings to monitor equipment performance.
• Provide technical guidance on installation and operation to ensure procedures are followed.
• Maintain data on customers’ equipment and parts inventories; support inventory reduction and consolidation.
• Maintain data in engineering systems and process engineering changes.
• Assist in technical training for customers.
