Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners and process data into usable deliverables for clients. You will capture on-site, verify data, and produce meshes, point clouds, and scan-to-CAD files that support structural and fabrication work.

You should bring hands-on experience with a handheld scanner and familiarity with Artec Studio or similar software, plus comfort working on active job sites.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural or fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment, climb, and work outdoors.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and for damaged structures.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, crack maps, and coordinate reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
