Construction Material Testing is seeking a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse field projects, from rebar mats to industrial components. You will capture, process, and deliver scan data and CAD-ready files, ensuring accuracy on-site and in the final reports.

You will work with Artec Studio and CAD tools, maintain equipment, and travel to regional hubs as projects demand. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software.
• Familiarity with CAD and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Able to travel and work on active construction sites; valid driver's license required.
• ACI, NICET, ICC certifications a plus; sponsorship available.

Responsabilités

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement and other structures.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports against drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for modeling.
• Document capture procedure, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Keep scanner, batteries, and calibration records organized and up-to-date.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety with superintendents and plant contacts; travel as needed.
