Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a trained 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse field projects. You will capture data on site, process with Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and scan-to-CAD outputs that clients can use directly.

The role requires travel to regional hubs, interpretation of CAD drawings, and ensuring data accuracy with on-site verification. Prior experience and a valid driver's license are essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld scanner on real projects; provide samples.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh processing, registration and export.
• Familiarity with reading structural drawings and CAD interfaces.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and in industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable record; travel as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar embeds and structures before pours.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site prior to departure.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, cleanup, texture, export formats.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against CAD drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids for reverse engineering; hand-clean meshes as needed.
• Document capture procedures and maintain chain of custody on forensics matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, safety, and travel with site contacts.
