Job summary
Construction Material Testing seeks a skilled 3D scanning technician to perform handheld scans of pre-pour rebar mats, corroded pipes, and machine parts, ensuring complete data capture and reporting against drawings. You will process data in Artec Studio and deliver client-ready files for CAD integration.
The role emphasizes on-site work at construction and plant sites, with travel to regional hubs. Training is provided; certifications are sponsored for career progression within the new service
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating handheld scanners on real projects.
- Familiarity with scanning software and exporting formats.
- Ability to read structural/fabrication drawings.
- Comfortable on active construction sites and outdoor environments.
- Valid driver's license required; travel as needed.
- Willingness to travel to regional hubs.
- Experience with scan-to-CAD is a plus.
- Certifications such as ACI/ICC are a plus (sponsored).
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and embedded components before pours.
- Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlaps.
- Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
- Process scans in Artec Studio and export CAD-ready formats.
- Produce deviation maps and coordinate reports against drawings.
- Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
- Document capture procedures and chain of custody on forensic matters.
- Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts.
- Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
