Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld Artec Leo systems on concrete, rebar, pipes, and machine parts at job sites across the Gulf Coast region.

You will capture data, validate scans on site, process with Artec Studio, and deliver meshes, point clouds, and CAD-ready files to clients, with travel as required.

This is a trained-operator role focusing on practical scanning, data integrity, and clear documentation of procedures and results.

Qualifications

• Experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio for mesh cleanup and registration.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites and on industrial plants; able to carry equipment.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable record and willingness to travel.
• Certifications such as ACI/ICC are valued and sponsorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components before/during work.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio and export to STL/OBJ/EPF/IGES as needed.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and coordinate reports to CAD drawings.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody.
