Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a qualified 3D scanning technician to perform handheld scans of rebar, embeds, pipes, and structural components on active construction sites. You will capture data on-site, process with Artec Studio, and deliver scan-to-CAD files and reports for client use.

Responsibilities include drift control, completeness checks, and collaboration with project teams. Training and certifications are offered, with travel to regional hubs and aggressive project timelines.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and reading structural/fabrication drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
• Certifications such as ACI, NICET, or ICC are a plus and sponsorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of structures and components before pours.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL, OBJ, E57, and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, and anchor bolt reports against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for modeling team.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
