Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on diverse site projects, process data in Artec Studio, and deliver accurate models and reports. You will verify data on-site, manage drift, and export to CAD formats for client use.

The role requires travel to regional hubs, willingness to work on active construction sites, and a track record with Artec Studio and CAD tools. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating handheld structured-light or laser scanners on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or comparable scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and export.
• Familiarity with CAD drawings and ability to read structural/fabrication drawings.
• Comfortable on active construction sites; able to carry equipment and travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
• Control drift on large objects with reference features, tape measures, and overlapping zones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture; export to STL/OBJ/E57 and CAD formats.
• Produce deviation color maps, measurement reports, crack maps, pit-depth tables, and anchor bolt reports.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) for reverse engineering and fit-up checks; hand-clean meshes for modeling.
• Document capture procedures and chain of custody for forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with superintendents and plant contacts.
• Travel to regional hubs as assigned.
