Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. You will perform OTDR testing, fusion splicing, and fiber certifications while diagnosing impairments across diverse facilities.

This 1099 contractor role pays hourly on site with travel pay and opportunities across national fiber infrastructure projects. Candidates should have 1+ year in fiber/IT/telecom and hold relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints and technical docs.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, IT, or Telecom experience or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of fiber optic and technical tasks including but not limited to.
• Fiber optic splicing using fusion and mechanical splicing techniques.
• OTDR testing, power meter testing, light source testing, and fiber certification.
• Fiber continuity testing and fault-distance identification.
• Connector inspection, cleaning, and remediation.
• Patch-cord troubleshooting and fiber jumper replacement.
• Installation, termination, and testing of single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling.
• Identification and troubleshooting of customer-premise and network impairments.
• Documentation of test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across environments including retail, medical, restaurant, corporate, telecom, and data centers.
