Job summary

Hardy Industries is seeking skilled Fiber Testing and Splicing Technicians to support our national client base. This role goes beyond basic testing — you may certify fiber links with an OTDR, troubleshoot impairments, perform fusion splicing, or identify faults across critical infrastructure.

As a hands-on field professional, you will work across diverse environments, travel within your coverage area, and operate as a 1099 contractor with on-site pay.

Qualifications

• Fiber optic testing and troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with OTDRs, power meters, light sources, fiber certification equipment, and visual fault locators.
• Understanding of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Ability to read network diagrams, splice schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• At least 1 year of Fiber, I.T., or Telecom experience, and one of FOA/CFOT/BICSI/Network+ or 5+ years field experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic and technical tasks including splicing (fusion/mechanical).
• Conduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and fiber certification.
• Test continuity, identify faults, inspect/clean connectors, replace jumpers.
• Install, terminate, and test single-mode and multi-mode cabling.
• Document test results, splicing records, and project deliverables.
• Work independently across diverse environments and coordinate with clients.
