Job summary

Forged Fiber is hiring a Fiber Tech II – Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables across construction projects in Des Moines, IA. You will handle aerial and underground splices, use OTDRs and meters, and coordinate with crews to meet project schedules.

Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong reading of diagrams, and solid communication skills. Travel and overtime may be required as part of the role.

• Strong reading and interpretation of diagrams, prints, and maps.
• Good written and verbal communication; ability to work with teams and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable on construction projects.
• Troubleshoot fiber faults using OTDR, optical power meters and related tools.
• Prepare splice cases/enclosures and perform aerial and underground splices.
• Read construction prints and splice diagrams; coordinate with crews to meet schedules.
