Forged Fiber in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Fiber Tech II - Splicing Technician to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable across construction and maintenance projects. You will work on aerial and underground networks, read diagrams, and document field results.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of fiber splicing/telecom outside-plant experience
• Proficiency with fusion splicer and OTDR
• Ability to read and interpret construction prints, splice diagrams, and maps
• Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles safely
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and varied terrain

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects
• Troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults using OTDR, power meters, scope, and fault finder
• Prepare, install, audit, and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial and underground assets
• Perform routine repairs to maintain route integrity and restore service
• Read designs and As-Builts; coordinate with crews and contractors to meet schedules
• Use field devices for work orders, diagnostics, and documentation
• Follow OSHA and safety requirements and company procedures
