Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is hiring a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks in outdoor utility settings. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot to ensure high-quality connections.

You will operate fusion splicers and OTDRs, prep splice enclosures, read fiber documentation, and work with a team on long-term projects. This role emphasizes safety and hands-on problem solving, with shift flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks.
• Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber network issues.
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
• Utilize fusion splicer and OTDR, 1310/1550 nm, DWDM/CWDM, OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter.
• Fiber design knowledge: reading documentation, understanding light levels, and dB loss.
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $30-$45 per hour.
