Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks and support field operations in outdoor utility sites. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot network segments, ensuring high-quality results and safe practices in every task.

The role requires hands-on experience with fusion splicing and OTDR testing, plus the ability to work on ladders or bucket trucks in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on a ladder or bucket truck.
• Committed to safety and high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Operate all testing equipment and resolve common fiber optic challenges.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (e.g., Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
• Utilize fusion splicer, OTDR, and related test devices.
• Understand fiber design, light levels, and dB loss.
• Work on outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $75,000-$125,000 annually.
