Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to join our outdoor utility construction teams in the United States. You will splice fiber, test networks, and troubleshoot field issues to ensure high-quality, reliable service.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on ladders or bucket trucks.
• Safety-focused daily work ethic.
• Ability to handle overtime and varied shifts.

Responsibilities

• Test and troubleshoot fiber optic network continuity.
• Operate testing equipment and resolve common fiber issues.
• Prepare fiber splice enclosures (e.g., Tyco, CommScope, Corning).
• Use fusion splicer and OTDR for 1310/1550 nm DWDM/CWDM testing.
• Read fiber design docs and understand light levels and dB loss.
• Work at outdoor utility construction sites.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You are flexible and enjoy a variety of shifts with overtime

Compensation of $75,000-$125,000 annually.
