Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks on outdoor utility sites, using fusion splicers and OTDR equipment.

You will test continuity, troubleshoot, prep splices in enclosures from Tyco, CommScope, and Corning, and work with spectrum and light level calculations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working on a ladder or bucket truck.
• Flexible with shifts and overtime.
• Safety is a day-to-day priority.
• Ability to work at outdoor utility sites.

Responsibilities

• Utilize fusion splicer, OTDR, 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Test and troubleshoot the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

Compensation of $75,000-$125,000 annually.
