Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Fiber Splicer to build end-to-end fiber optic networks. You will test, splice, and troubleshoot in outdoor environments, with a focus on safety and quality. You’ll work with fusion splicers and OTDR equipment to ensure reliable network performance.

Responsibilities include testing, using OTDR and power meters, and preparing splice enclosures. This role supports long-term projects with varying shifts and overtime opportunities.

• 3–5 years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

As a Fiber Splicer, you are responsible for producing end-to-end fiber optic networks.

In addition, you will:

• Testing and troubleshooting the continuity of fiber optic networks
• Operate all testing equipment and be adept at the resolution of challenges common to fiber optic networks
• Experience prepping fiber splice enclosures such as Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.
• Utilize fusion splicer, test equipment OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) 1310, 1550, DWDM, CWDM, 945 OLTS, Max Tester, Power meter
• Fiber engineer knowledge of fiber design, reading documentation, understanding of light levels, and dB loss
• Work in outdoor utility construction sites

• You are comfortable working on a ladder or a bucket truck
