Job summary

Hotwire Communications Ltd is seeking a Construction Technician to ensure high‑quality installation practices for video, voice and internet in commercial and residential settings, including common areas, IDFs and MDFs.

You will assist installation teams, install video services, troubleshoot network issues, and maintain a safe on-site environment while coordinating with multiple locations and teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• 3 years’ experience installing, testing and troubleshooting cable, phone and internet.
• Proven fiber optic cabling experience.
• Proficiency using small hand tools and larger power tools.
• Must have active and clean state driver’s license in state where hired.
• Comfortable working on a ladder and at heights.
• Able to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays; on-call rotation as needed.
• On-call schedule rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist installation teams with activation of fiber‑optic services in subscriber homes (single family, condo, apartments).
• Install and service video services (analog, digital, HD TV).
• Install, service and disconnect telephone and internet; punch down telephone lines.
• Maintain a safe work environment per safety policies; practice safe driving.
• Install CAT5/CAT6 drop wire and connectors.
• Troubleshoot video, telephone and internet problems from demarc to CPE.
