Job summary

Hotwire Communications Ltd is seeking a Construction Technician to ensure quality installation practices for fiber, video, voice, and internet services in commercial and residential settings. You will work on installations in homes, common areas, IDFs and MDFs, and support active service activations.

The role requires 3+ years of fiber cabling installation experience, ladder work, and on-call rotation readiness.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates Degree in Internet Technologies preferred.
• Proven Fiber Optic Cabling experience.
• Proficiency using small hand tools and larger power tools.
• Must have active and clean, non-restrictive, state issued driver’s license in State where hired.
• Must be comfortable working on a ladder and all heights.
• Ability to work days, weekends, evenings and holidays and participate with on-call rotation as needed.
• Work on an on-call schedule rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist installation and other teams with activation of fiber-optic service in subscriber homes.
• Install and service full video services, including analog, digital, and HD TV.
• Install, service, and disconnect telephone and internet customers; punch down lines.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies and safe driving techniques.
• Install CAT5/CAT6 drop wire and connectors.
• Troubleshoot video, telephone and internet problems from demarcation to customer premise equipment.
• Troubleshoot IP issues from demarcation to customer premise equipment.
• Install RF in-building cellular systems and perform maintenance/testing.
• Identify and acquire parts for replacement and maintenance; wire, connect, test and maintain new service or systems.
• Install conduit/pathways in ROW; trenching, digging etc.
• Use RF test equipment to verify installation functionality.
• Plan site builds using construction documents.
• Coordinate utility locates and traffic control plans.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, RF radios, and antennas.
• Plan installations to minimize waste and ensure reliability.
