Job summary

Conterra Networks seeks a full-time field technician in Lafayette, LA to install and mount equipment, pull and terminate cables, and test basic services. You will work with fiber and Ethernet systems, handle on-site deployments, and support customer installations with a collaborative team.

The role requires basic hand tools, rack/wall mounting skills, and knowledge of telephony wiring. Willingness to travel and participate in after-hours support is preferred.

Qualifications

• Basic hand tools knowledge and ability to rack or wall mount electronic equipment.
• Understand Ethernet cabling, termination and associated standards.
• Familiar with Telephony color code and RJ-11 wiring basics.
• Experience terminating telephone cables and fiber optic basics.
• Knowledge of fiber types (multi/single mode) and connectors (SC/LC/ST/FC).
• Awareness of SFP types and ability to distinguish between them.
• Ability to manage assigned tasks and work in teams or independently.

Responsibilities

• Install or mount electronic equipment in racks, on walls, or backboards.
• Pull and terminate cables vertically and horizontally.
• Work from ladders or elevated positions as needed.
• Test basic internet circuits and POTS lines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve service tickets; travel as required.
• Collaborate with internal groups to install or restore service.
• Be on call outside normal business hours; follow supervisor tasks.
