Job summary

Mid Century Communications is seeking a field installer/support technician to deliver fiber/copper connectivity, hosted phone systems, and business network services for commercial customers. You will perform installation, provisioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting across telecom equipment and low‑voltage systems.

The role requires hands‑on experience with network gear, customer support, and a proactive approach to problem solving; safety training and valid driver’s license are needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Three years of related experience preferred, including installation of business or residential communication services.
• Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, IP networking, and Wi‑Fi preferred; previous telecommunications experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, provision, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot copper and fiber‑optic services, hosted phone systems, business networks, servers, backups, and connected devices for business and residential customers.
• Install and support business low‑voltage systems, including firewalls, network switches, wireless networking equipment, PoE devices, structured cabling, security cameras, access control systems, electronic door lock systems, and network security solutions.
• Install single-line and multi-line telephone systems, inside wiring, plugs, jacks, wireless devices, protectors, demarcation devices, and other subscriber-premises equipment in accordance with company standards.
• Provision hosted phones, telephone numbers, ATAs, voicemail, call features, holiday schedules, and other requested services; order required hosted phone equipment and back up customer configuration files.
• Complete remote and on‑site troubleshooting, assist with Helpdesk tickets, and provide day‑to‑day technical support for business customers.
• Perform customer training for new and existing business services, equipment, and hosted phone features.
• Conduct site walks with the Business Sales team and develop creative, customized technology solutions based on each customer’s business requirements, operational goals, and technical environment.
• Demonstrate an inquisitive mindset and strong problem‑solving abilities when evaluating customer needs, troubleshooting issues, and identifying opportunities for technology improvements.
