Job summary

Socket Fiber seeks a Field Services Technician - Tier I to deliver on-site residential installations for our fiber network. You’ll use a company vehicle and drive from site to site, handling installs through to testing and handoff with customers.

You’ll perform cabling, equipment setup, and network testing while ensuring safety and quality. This role requires travel and working in varied conditions, including outdoor environments and on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in telecommunications, networking, or field service.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable in underground and aerial environments (up to 32 ft ladders and bucket truck).
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must lift up to 70 lbs.
• Able to operate a bucket truck up to 300 lbs.
• Flexible schedule including Saturdays/Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential customers.
• Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience with professionalism and knowledge during visits.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling per codes and standards.
• Complete accurate documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment in line with safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket in the field.
