Job summary

Socket Fiber seeks a skilled Field Services Technician - Tier I to perform onsite residential fiber installations and repairs. You will install and configure customer equipment, document service activities, and ensure a professional, safe customer experience using a company vehicle to reach service areas.

You may work in various weather conditions, travel to service areas, and join an on‑call rotation including nights and weekends. A valid license and climbing/bucket truck skills are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in telecommunications, networking, or field service.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
• Ability to participate in an on‑call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
• Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
• Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered

Responsibilities

• Perform independent installations and repairs for residential customers.
• Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi‑Fi gateways.
• Deliver an exceptional customer experience by being professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during all service visits.
• Install, terminate, and test network cabling, adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of service activities.
• Safely operate company vehicles and equipment, including ladders and bucket trucks, in accordance with all safety protocols and DOT/OSHA regulations.
• Maintain a clean driving record and represent Socket with professionalism in the field.
