Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services is seeking a claims specialist to prepare, file, and track HUD/FHA home retention claims in accordance with investor and CMS guidelines. The role emphasizes timely processing, accurate reconciliation, and posting of claim proceeds to ensure loan performance.

You will follow up daily, document actions in the system, maintain HUD audit files, and collaborate with team members to resolve denials and delays while adhering to applicable laws.

Qualifications

• Understanding of loss mitigation and mortgage claims processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work with internal and external parties.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Teamwork and quality focus in loan evaluation.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure and shifting priorities.
• Ability to negotiate and integrate viewpoints in CMS context.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload beyond one month.
• Basic arithmetic and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to prepare detailed reports and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately.
• Follow up on claim proceeds.
• Perform loan-level reconciliation of claim proceeds.
• Provide posting instructions within 24 hours.
• Review and ensure timely completion of steps.
• Input completion dates when actions occur.
• Obtain approval and adjust scheduled dates.
• Daily routine follow-up.
• Notify supervisor of trends and problems.
• Document servicing, actions, delays, and calls.
• Image all claim documents timely.
• Maintain HUD audit file.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
