RESIDENTIAL LIVING & LEARNING EAST TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY Position Title: Marketing Assistant (MA) (Work Study) Department: Residential Living and Learning Reports to: Associate Director of Residence Education ** This position requires a valid Work Study Permit at the time of application Residential Living and Learning Mission Residential Living and Learning (RLL) is committed to fostering a student-centered residential experience that builds community, supports purposeful learning, and cultivates meaningful connections through leadership development and holistic engagement.

Position Overview

The Marketing Assistant (MA) position supports the Residential Living and Learning staff by creating and managing content that supports programming, events, and community initiatives. This role involves content creation, social media management, graphic design, and digital marketing, with a focus on fostering community engagement and improving awareness of department resources and events. The MA position will work closely with RLL staff to ensure all communications align with the department’s mission and values, engagement students with vibrant, relevant, and informative content.

Responsibilities
  • Social Media Management: Create, schedule, and post content across Residential Living and Learning social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) to engage students and promote housing events, resources, and deadlines.
  • Event Promotion: Assist with the marketing and promotion of events, including crafting flyers, graphics, and email templates to drive student attendance and engagement.
  • Content Creation: Design and produce visual content such as infographics, posters, digital ads, and video clips highlighting housing resources, services, and community life.
  • Email Campaign Support: Draft and edit email communications to students, parents, and staff to announce important dates, updates, and resources, ensuring messaging aligns with branding.
  • Photo and Video Coverage: Capture photos and videos at Residential Living and Learning events and around residential communities to be used in future promotional materials.
  • Data Collection and Reporting: Assist in gathering engagement metrics from social media and email campaigns, creating basic reports on reach, engagement, and student feedback for the marketing team.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure all marketing materials follow Residential Living and Learning and University brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent visual identity across all platforms.
  • Student Engagement Initiatives: Support initiatives to enhance student engagement, such as contests, surveys, and Q&A sessions on social media, to gather feedback and strengthen the sense of community.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Residential Living and Learning team, including managing promotional materials inventory, responding to routine inquiries, and assisting with logistics for events and marketing initiatives.
Effective Period

Continued employment is determined on a semester-by-semester basis.

Job Position Requirement

Continued Employment

All Marketing Assistants seeking to return to the position must meet the following requirements: Have a successful employee evaluation. Positive record of conduct with RLL and the rest of campus. Meet or exceed GPA requirements. Participate in the re-hire process set forth by the Department of Residential Living and Learning. Once rehired, all MAs will be evaluated on team fit and community needs for the upcoming academic year and placed accordingly.

University Training Requirement

As student staff members, Marketing Assistants are also employees of the State of Texas and are required to participate in the completion of all training provided through Human Resources. Failure to adhere to university training will result in disciplinary action.

Compensation

Marketing Assistants will be paid $11/hour on a biweekly basis. The MA is responsible for logging all hours in Workday through Texas A&M University’s Single Sign-On (SSO) system and may not work more than 19 hours per week on campus. ** This position requires a valid Work Study Permit at the time of application All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
