East Texas A&M University’s Office of Student Engagement is seeking motivated students to join our team as Student Engagement Programming Assistants. You will plan, implement, and execute a variety of engaging programming events, including Weeks of Welcome, Homecoming, Late Night programs, Movie Nights, and Holiday events, empowering you to gain hands-on experience in event planning and campus marketing.

Requirements to serve as a Student Engagement Programmer are as follows:
  • Qualities and Skills required: Be in good standing with the university Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours (undergraduate) or 9 credit hours (graduate) during the term in office Dedication
  • Qualities and Skills preferred: CPR/First Aid/AED certification Creativity Campus Involvement Leadership experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Creativity and enthusiasm for event planning and execution. Prior experience in event planning, marketing, or student leadership roles is preferred but not required.
Description:

The Office of Student Engagement at East Texas A&M University is seeking motivated and dynamic students to join our team as Student Engagement Programming Assistants. As a Student Engagement Programming Assistant, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the vibrant campus life by planning, implementing, and executing a variety of engaging programming events. These events include but are not limited to Lions Roar Fall & Spring (Weeks of Welcome), Homecoming, Late Night programming, Movie Nights, Holiday programming, passive & daytime events, and more.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Engagement team to brainstorm, plan, and execute campus-wide programming events.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for events, including venue booking, vendor communication, and equipment setup.
  • Contribute to the marketing efforts of events through social media promotion, poster design, and flyer distribution.
  • Work closely with student organizations and campus partners to ensure successful event coordination.
  • Foster a sense of tradition and community spirit through involvement in planning traditional campus events.
Hours:

19 Hours a week

Required:

Description:

Meet weekly with Student Engagement Graduate Assistant Meet weekly with other Student Engagement Programmers Attend weekly programming meetings Work designated office hours per week as approved by the Student Engagement Graduate Assistant. Attend professional training, workshops, retreats, seminars, and conferences Maintains attendance records from events. As an official representative of the Office of Student Engagement, work as a liaison to members of the East Texas A&M community Uphold and abide by all university policies and procedures

Student Worker Position Details

Student worker positions are part-time roles available throughout the university in a variety of departments and offices.

These roles help students gain hands-on experience in a professional setting.

May work up to 19 hours per week while classes are in session.

May work full-time during breaks and summer if enrolled for the upcoming fall.

Must not work during scheduled class times.

Open to all actively enrolled students regardless of financial aid status.

Students do not need to be enrolled during summer if they plan to return in the fall.

Work-study positions are need-based jobs funded through federal or state financial aid programs and allow students to earn money to help pay for educational expenses.

Must be awarded federal or state work-study through Financial Aid.

May work up to 19 hours per week during the semester.

May work full-time during breaks and summer if returning in the fall.

Must not work during scheduled class times.

Positions are limited to the amount awarded and must follow program guidelines.

Graduate assistantships offer opportunities to teach, conduct research, or assist in academic departments while continuing your graduate education.

To qualify, students must:
  • Be fully admitted to a graduate program (not provisional or non-degree)
  • Be in good standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Be enrolled in courses each term of the assistantship
  • Meet specific credit hour and subject requirements for teaching or lab roles
  • Non-native English speakers must demonstrate language proficiency
  • Research assistants must complete Responsible Conduct in Research training
  • Work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the appointment
  • May have teaching or research assignments, or provide administrative support
