Johnson Controls Federal Systems seeks a Security Systems Application Engineer to support ESS projects in the DMV area, with remote/hybrid work and travel to sites as needed. Responsibilities span pre-sales to closeout, including design submittals, programming, commissioning, and customer training.

The role requires 5+ years in electronic security, strong CAD skills, and the ability to obtain necessary clearances; preference for DoD Secret or higher.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience with commercial/industrial electronic security systems (access controls, IDS, CCTV).
• Experience in pre-sales engineering: cost estimating, sales support, site surveys, design packages.
• Strong configuration and programming skills for electronic security systems.
• Advanced computer skills, especially CAD/drafting tools.
• Ability to relate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Up to 25% local travel; willingness to travel as needed.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance; Secret or higher preferred.

Responsabilités

• Engage in full lifecycle of projects from pre-sales to closeout.
• Perform hardware/software/network level commissioning for Federal Security Projects.
• Support pre-sales with cost estimates, site surveys, shop drawing submittals, and product literature.
• Configure and program security systems (access controls, CCTV, intrusion) to meet project specs.
• Develop and test software to operate systems per requirements.
• Provide field support to ensure design quality, timeliness, and efficiency.
• Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
• Assist in loading/commissioning controllers and validate complete system functionality.
• Provide site-specific training for owners/operators and participate in customer meetings.
