Job summary

HDR is seeking a Federal Engineering Manager to lead technical teams and oversee execution of complex electrical projects for DoD and federal facilities. The role emphasizes collaboration with PMs, budget oversight, and adherence to HDR quality standards.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with cross-location teams, and contribute to technical papers and conference presentations while maintaining strong client relations and project performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
• PE license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and electrical design software.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical team and execution of project deliverables.
• Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect.
• Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members.
• Support scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
• Mentor Project Engineers, EITs, or CADD/Designers.
• Coordinate and perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per HDR QMS.
• Lead multiple projects concurrently across locations.
• Work with senior engineers to identify and develop technical expertise; attend training and seminars.
• Assist with developing technical papers/presentations for industry conferences/events.
• Collaborate with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews.
• Perform other duties as needed.
