Job summary

CGS is seeking a Law Clerk to join our team supporting the legal mission of a large federal agency. This mid-level, full-time role involves providing litigation support, including cite checking, document review, legal research, and drafting under supervision.

You will work under a Project Supervisor or Manager, conduct complex legal research using LEXIS/Westlaw, and help prepare motions, briefs, and memoranda.

Qualifications

• Requires JD or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
• Experience with LEXIS and Westlaw; cite checking and blue book expertise.
• Ability to perform complex legal research under pressure and deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and memoranda of law.
• Reviews and conducts research for ROI (Release of Information).
• Reviews new cases and researches pertinent laws; edits and drafts opinions.
• Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and blue book.
• Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation and briefs attorneys on legal issues.
