Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) seeks a Law Clerk to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The role involves litigation support tasks, including cite checking, document review, and legal research.

The candidate will work under supervision on various assignments, with opportunities for professional growth and exposure to federal government contracting environments. Requires JD or progress toward it and familiarity with court procedures.

Qualifications

• JD or current ABA-accredited law student with at least one year completed.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
• Proficiency with LEXIS and Westlaw.
• Extensive experience with cite checking and Bluebook formatting.
• Experience performing complex legal research.
• Hands-on familiarity with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
• Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.
• Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and Bluebook.
• Reviews and conducts research for ROI (Release of Information).
• Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
• Responds to citizen letters.
