Job summary

Olsson in the United States is seeking an Associate Electrical Engineer to join the Federal Engineering and Design team. You will design electrical systems for federal facilities, collaborating with licensed engineers and learning UFC, DoD, and VA standards while growing in power distribution, lighting, and life-safety design.

This role offers hands-on design experience, travel to project sites, and opportunities for mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power.
• Minimum of one year of engineering experience, internship experience, or equivalent academic project experience.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• Working knowledge of design and modeling software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, or AGi32.
• Familiarity with NEC and electrical building systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of electrical systems for federal facilities (power, lighting, grounding, communications, life safety).
• Perform engineering calculations, system layouts, and equipment selections under licensed engineers.
• Develop and apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, standards, and best practices.
• Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, or other electrical modeling tools.
• Assist with project schedules, design coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration with mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural teams.
• Research applicable federal design criteria and recommend solutions to technical challenges.
• Gain experience creating and maintaining project information within the firm's project management systems.
• May travel to project sites and federal installations to support design development, construction, and project coordination activities.
