Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States seeks a seasoned engineer to serve as the technical liaison between federal government design and construction teams and contractors on vertical and horizontal projects.

The role requires reviewing submittals, RFIs, specs for compliance with FAR/DFARS and client standards, applying engineering principles across planning, design review, construction administration, and field support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass federal background checks.
• Experience with design review, construction administration, and cost estimating.
• Strong scheduling, project coordination, and contract management skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and overseas as required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical liaison between federal government client design branch, construction branch, and contractors.
• Review design submittals, shop drawings, specifications, RFIs, and technical reports for compliance with Federal and client specific standards.
• Apply engineering principles across planning, investigation, design review, construction administration, and assessment of engineering procedures, structures, systems, and tools.
• Monitors progress and prepares technical reports and/or project status reports.
• Provide engineering judgment for field modifications, non-conformance issues, value engineering proposals, and constructability reviews.
• Develop and maintain client relationships through responsive communication and strong technical support.
