Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) in the United States. BPAs are full‑time federal law enforcement positions with duties including detecting and questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and preventing illegal border activity.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or educational substitution to qualify for GL-5.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study to qualify.
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify for GL-5/GL-7/GS-9/GS-11 levels.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of immigration and customs violations.
• Inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets.
