Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) across multiple duty locations in the United States.

These full-time, entry- and mid-level positions qualify based on education or prior public-safety experience, with strong pay progression from GL-5/GL-7/GL-9 to GS-11 and possible promotion to GS-12. In addition to base pay, BPAs receive comprehensive federal benefits and recruitment/retention incentives, including a potential total of up to $50,000 in incentives

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating decision making under pressure.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study.
• A combination of general work experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret physical evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets.
