Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to support national security and border enforcement.

The role offers base pay across GL-5 to GL-11 levels, with potential for advancement, comprehensive federal benefits, and a recruitment incentive program. Selected BPAs may be assigned to various duty locations nationwide and must meet education or experience requirements outlined in the announcement.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or successful completion of a full four-year course of study.
• Combination of general work experience and education may be substituted per the notice provided.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws; inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night operations.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and other evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets.
