Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry- to mid-level roles across diverse duty locations. The agency offers strong base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and job stability, with recruitment and retention incentives available.

BPAs will operate at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, or GS-11 levels with potential promotion to GS-12. Incentives include up to $20,000 recruitment and up to $30,000 retention, plus prioritized-location bonuses.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to learn regulations, methods, and techniques.
• Combination of experience and education will be evaluated via resume/transcripts.
• Education substitution: a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at or near borders using surveillance.
• Interpreting evidence of illegal entry and performing checks across various locations.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels and other assets.
