Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join the federal law enforcement workforce.

This position offers full-time, entry- and mid-level opportunities with competitive base pay and comprehensive benefits, plus recruitment and retention incentives to qualified applicants. BPAs operate at multiple duty locations across the United States, with paths for advancement from GL-5 through GS-11 levels.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may be accepted for qualification.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and other methods.
• Interpreting tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal areas using various government assets to support the USBP mission.
