Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is urgently recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to serve at entry and mid-level career grades across multiple duty locations. The role offers solid base pay, comprehensive federal benefits, and potential recruitment and retention incentives.

Selected BPAs may be placed at GL-5, GL-7, GL-9 or GS-11 levels with potential for advancement to GS-12. Eligible for health and retirement programs and paid leave.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience OR education substitution to meet GL-5 requirements.
• Specialized experience for higher grades includes firearms, law enforcement duties, and report-writing.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience and education can qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband
• Perform checks of farms, buildings, traffic, and transit, and patrol assigned areas.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
