Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is urgently hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry and mid-level roles. Base pay varies by GL/GS grade, with recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and additional retention incentives up to $30,000.

Duties include border surveillance, questioning, and enforcement near borders across multiple locations. Selected BPAs receive comprehensive federal benefits and job stability.

Qualifications

• Education substitution: a bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience and education may be considered.
• Graduate study or superior academic achievement may substitute in some cases.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry and contraband; performing checks at various locations.
• Patrolling the international boundary and using government assets to fulfill USBP mission.
