Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) in full-time, entry to mid-level positions. Compensation varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-11) with a base salary range and strong federal benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of experience and education may qualify for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents to verify citizenship or compliance.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision tools.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry and contraband and document observations.
• Perform various checks (farm, building, traffic, city, transportation) during patrols.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using a range of government assets to fulfill CBP missions.
