Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Farm Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair farm buildings and equipment across our facilities. You will perform preventative maintenance on farm equipment, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing components.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of mechanical/maintenance experience; an Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2+ years of maintenance experience.
• Associate degree preferred in Industrial Maintenance or a related field.
• Strong mechanical skills including gearbox and bearing repair.
• Knowledge of AC/DC controls and power electricity.
• Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic and piping systems.
• Experience in fabrication and welding.
• Ability to sketch, read, and understand technical drawings.
• Basic computer skills and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on farm equipment.
• Identify parts and update equipment and facility accordingly.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair water, ventilation, and related systems.
• Repair farm equipment and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems.
• Install, fabricate, and repair as needed.
• Maintain and repair plumbing and electrical systems.
• Maintain a parts inventory and organize supplies.
• Occasional weekend and on-call duties as required.
