Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Farm Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair the physical structures of company buildings.

The role includes performing preventative maintenance on farm equipment, diagnosing parts, and ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and company policies. Responsibilities cover mechanical installations, repairs of water, electrical, and building systems, and collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 2+ years relevant mechanical/maintenance experience, required.
• Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or related field preferred.
• Possess good mechanical skills, including repair of gearboxes, bearings, etc.
• Knowledge of AC/DC controls and power electricity
• Knowledge of Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Piping Systems.
• Experience in Fabrication and welding.
• Ability to sketch, read, and understand technical drawings and layouts.
• Basic mechanical, electrical and plumbing skills are required.
• Basic computer skills
• Customer service skills
• Must have valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on farm equipment.
• Identify and document parts needed to update and maintain equipment and facilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair potable water and ventilation systems.
• Repair farm equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems and piping.
• Perform general mechanical work including installation, fabrication, and repair.
• Follow all safety rules, SOPs, and company policies.
