Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Family Store Assistant Manager in Michigan to support daily store operations and assist the Store Manager in coordinating staff, training, and customer service. This role requires overseeing clerks, managing cash processes, and implementing policies to ensure a smooth, compliant store environment.

The position emphasizes leadership in customer development, safety reporting, and teamwork, with responsibilities extending to attending meetings and addressing issues

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
• 2 years experience in retail sales.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising clerks to ensure compliance with directives and guidelines.
• Assist with training for new staff.
• Assist with ensuring cash receipts are banked daily and reported to appropriate personnel.
• Attend monthly staff meetings for managers and communicate new policies.
• Lead customer development and retention plans to ensure an excellent customer experience.
• Report safety hazards and protect personnel and property.
• Report to the Manager any detrimental behavior.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

The Family Store Assistant Manager supports the store manager with the planning, administering, monitoring, and evaluation of the day-to-day operations ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. This position works alongside store associates to assist customers and serves as the manager in the absence of the store manager.

Education/Experience:

• High school graduate or equivalent (required), Associates degree (preferred), or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• 2 years experience in retail sales

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Computer Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
• Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
• Proficient in operating Point of Sales System

Certificates and Licenses:

• Must have and maintain a current valid chauffer’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR)
• Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
